Opening Message of Volume 4 Edition

This issue of Hidden Figures draws a full-circle moment in a service journey that began nearly seven years ago. I first created Hidden Figures in Grade 6 as a story, a project, and ultimately a step to my service journey. What began as a small club built a long-lasting passion for uncovering untold stories and speaking up for the hidden and unheard voices.

By Grade 8, that passion had shaped as Hidden Figures Magazine, a platform built with the goal of spreading awareness and informing people about service in a positive manner, not academically. Each year, the magazine versions have grown not only in scope but also with intention. As I write, I believe that this year’s edition is a reflection of that growth.

This issue doesn’t just talk about human rights and inequalities, but it also looks into the service. With different actions taken, this magazine really dives deep into what service is and how it has been done, exploring the intersection of service and inequality.

It’s been an honor to lead a team of different people who are just as committed to service. I hope this issue not only informs you, but also inspires you about service and reminds you of the unseen.

Thank you for reading and being part of this journey.
