International Human Rights Day

International Human Rights Day is celebrated on December 10th.

This day has been adopted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 and honored the United Nations General Assembly's adoption assembly.

This year's theme 2021 relates to "Equality" and Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights"; trying to rebuild better, fairer, and greener. This idea can focus on 5 parts. Firstly, "rebuilding fairer: a new social contract," of human rights, which is central for support in better, fairer, and more sustainable societies, present, and future generations. Next, with equal opportunities for youth, people are currently losing their jobs due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, their rights should be protected. In addition, there have been a lot of inequalities in between vaccinations which results as in reversing vaccine inequality and injustice.

Moreover, there has been environmental graduation, including climate change, pollution, and nature loss which negatively affect human rights. In conclusion, there should be advancements with the right to a healthy environment and climate justice. Last but not least, protection is needed for more resilient societies, better equipped through human rights in such pandemics and the impacts of the climate crisis. For that reason, there should be prevention with conflicts and building resilience through equality, inclusion, and human rights.
