World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day is celebrated on December 1st.

It is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease.

It was first conceived in August 1987 by James W. Bunn and Thomas Netter, two public information officers for the Global Programme on AIDS at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. This day is an opportunity for every community to unite in the fight against HIV, human immunodeficiency virus.

For the theme of 2021, it is, "Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility." It represents the list of challenges that have been alerted on World AIDS Day.  To celebrate this day, just wear an HIV awareness red ribbon! These red ribbons could be easily bought in online shops or pick one up in any branch of MAC Cosmetics in the UK. With this, you could take a picture of yourself  and upload it into social media provided with these hashtags:

#worldaidsday #hiv #aids #hivawareness #awareness #aidsawareness
