UNICEF Program
The mission was as a representative, we are going to have every child make a life of jubilation. The vision
was to be the most trusted children's organization leading the culture of advocacy for children's rights and donations in Korea.
UNICEF Korea was a great opportunity to learn more about UNICEF's actions and efforts related to health. The participants were Alyssa Han, Zoe Kim, Sofie Kongolo, Jane Hahn, Grace S Lee, Junghye Park, Joey Song, Seungwoo Lee, Dohun Kim, and Ms.MacDonald. We were willing to participate in this program especially because of the mission and vision.
As children, we thought that it would be a great opportunity to learn more about child's rights and build up an experience of taking action. When participating in this program, usually we would do it offline, having virtual reality experiences of meeting people from all over the world, taking photos with the UNICEF staff member, making our own relief box, making our own school for a brighter future for students, the voice of children, sending a heartful message to them, and actually experiencing a kid who has to walk every day for water; however, due to COVID-19, we had to do it online.
Even though it was online, it was very informative. In the program, we watched two short videos of UNICEF's action, activities about nutrition, education, water, examining UNICEF efforts related to health. This was one of the most fun and important parts because we learned and got to see how the supplies could be used. The UNICEF relief supplies were measuring tape for checking malnutrition people, plum peanut snacks, blackboard paint, a school in a box, vaccine box, and drinking water purifier.
Despite the fact that this program was very short, all of the participants learned a lot and were rejoiced to learn more about UNICEF. As a participant of this program and a leader of Hidden Figures, I thought it would be great to listen more about these activities or lectures so that different kinds of actions could be made with our organization. In addition, we strongly wanted to make a lot of connections with the UNICEF since it is related to the topic and SDGs that we are focusing on.
